The Minister of Fisheries and Blue Economy, H.E. Ahmed Hassan Aden, participated an event held during the 11th Ocean Conference organized by UNESCO. During the event, the Minister signed the African Joint Call to Action aimed at strengthening ocean science, research, knowledge, and cooperation across the continent.

 

 

The Minister was accompanied by the Ministry’s Director General, Mr. Abdi Dirshe, the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Somalia to Kenya, H.E. Jabril Ibrahim Abdulle, and other technical experts from the Ministry.

In a related engagement, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Salah Ahmed Jama, accompanied by the Minister of Fisheries and Blue Economy, participated in an international meeting focused on advancing the blue economy. The Federal Government presented Somalia’s plans and strategic priorities for developing a sustainable blue economy.

Somalia’s participation in these international platforms demonstrates the Government’s continued commitment to strengthening marine research, protecting ocean resources, promoting regional cooperation, and unlocking the country’s blue-economy potential for sustainable development and economic growth
